Our Hands Are Helpful

Our hands are helpful. They do more than answer your calls, respond to your emails, install meters, and maintain infrastructure. They help others.

Helping to Ease Hunger in the South Lake Tahoe Community

For the past 10 years, Liberty has supported Bread and Broth, a food outreach program in South Lake Tahoe. Bread and Broth is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers that works to ease hunger in the South Lake Tahoe community.

Bread and Broth volunteers work together to serve the working poor, families in need, the elderly on fixed incomes, hungry school children, and those who are homeless.

“The programs we offer and the food we provide our community is a direct result of our generous donors and supporters,” said Carol Gerard, Interim Director and Fundraising Chairperson of Bread and Broth. “We wouldn’t be able to make an impact without the generous contributions and volunteerism from organizations like Liberty.”

Branson Employees Volunteer at Local Animal Shelter

For the second year in a row, Liberty Customer Care team members Cristy Poivre, Elizabeth Lebsock, and Anastasia Miles spent a recent Saturday volunteering their time (and love) to help some furry friends at the Branson Humane Society in Branson, Missouri.

“I really enjoy helping out the workers there,” says Poivre. “They work so hard so it’s nice to give them a little break and helping however they need to take a load off their plate. “On top of that, I just love animals in general and giving them a little extra love and attention while they are there for hopefully a short stay will help them through the transition.”

Their volunteer work at the shelter included washing dishes, cleaning beds and kennels, doing laundry, and preparing take-home food bags for community members in need of extra help feeding their pets. And then there’s the biggest perk of all – getting some quality play time and walks in with the dogs staying there.

Volunteering at the shelter holds special meaning to Anastasia Miles, as one of her two dogs at home was saved by a rescue group in Kansas.

“I love watching the dogs play outside when we take them out,” she says. “It’s incredible to watch them coming out of their shells. I just want to make sure they get a little extra attention and love while they are waiting for their new homes.”

Back to Helping Our Four-Legged Friends!

A group of Liberty employees in New Hampshire recently got together to help clean up the grounds at one of our favorite local organizations - The Salem Animal Rescue League (SARL).

SARL is a no-kill animal shelter that provides a safe haven and compassionate care for neglected or abandoned animals. SARL also assists with finding new permanent homes for all.

The Liberty team helped by mowing, weed whacking, removing the vine overgrowth in the play yard area, and organizing the sheds so our furry friends can take full advantage of their outdoor space!

At Liberty, giving back to our communities is not something we have to do, it’s something we get to do.
