Sustainability
Our vision of sustainability is centered on our three strategic pillars; growth, operational excellence and sustainability leadership.
With more than 30 years of experience developing and operating renewable and clean energy facilities, Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. parent company of Liberty was centered on a sustainable business model long before the green economy became the market focus that it is today.
Our Approach
At Liberty, we strive to exceed local and national license-to-operate requirements when it comes to environmental management. Our goal is to ensure we comply with all environmental regulations, which is an extension of our local, responsive and caring culture. We take a local, responsive, and caring approach in every community we serve. Our customers’ issues are our issues — our frontline people live them every day.
Sustainability is, and always has been, an integral part of the way we conduct our business. It’s not just something we do; it’s embedded in who we are.

Net-Zero 2050
Rooted in our purpose of sustaining energy and water for life, we have established a net-zero by 2050 target for our business operations.
We have taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint. These initiatives include installing solar panels on some of our building rooftops, converting our fleet vehicles to compressed natural gas and electric power, and offering preferred parking for hybrid vehicles.
The achievement of our net-zero target is supported by our strong decarbonization track record, extensive experience in regulated utility management, and deep expertise in renewables development.
