Chris Cadeau
Analyst I, Technical Support - Access Control Services
Tell us a little bit about you.
I’m 29 years old. I enjoy video games and used to be involved in designing them. I graduated from Sheridan College. I first joined Liberty as a co-op in 2020 and joined full-time in January 2022.
How did your journey start with Liberty & how did you learn about Liberty?
My journey with Liberty started as a Service Desk Co-op under Troy Gonsalves in the Corporate Service Desk team. This was my second of three co-ops for my program at Sheridan. I would eventually take my third co-op with Liberty as well in the same role.
Where are you now with Liberty?
I’m currently an “Analyst I, Technical Support - Access Control Services” in the Account Management team, which is a part of the Corporate Service Desk team. I’ve been in my current role since February 2023.
I ended up in my current role after a year in my initial role(s) as a Service Desk Associate/Analyst under Simon Martin. In January 2023, an opening appeared in the Account Management team, and I was recommended the role. I decided to apply for the role as a result and was accepted.
What do you like most about your current position at Liberty?
I like being able to interact more directly with the systems that support Liberty. Being able to “peel back the curtain” essentially. I enjoy managing the innerworkings of the accounts system, the file system, and the servers that host them.
I learned a lot as I’ve experienced both teams within the Corporate Service Desk. This has allowed me to gain experience with both the front-end and back-end of providing support. With the front end, I solved many of the day-to-day problems users experienced, I got to provide support for the Executive team, interfaced with vendors and helped to develop our Inventory Management system. Meanwhile with the back end, I’ve gained plenty of experience with Active Director, account management, the onboarding and offboarding processes, and providing security via Role-Based Access. I’ve also coordinated multiple folder migrations between servers to help maintain file integrity and proper authorization.
Once you learn what is expected of you, don’t wait to be told to do it. Take initiative and do what you can. If you don’t know how to do something, ask someone who does and learn for the future. An employee who looks for what can or needs to be done, and then either does it, or creates an action plan to get it done, is an employee that’ll go far.
