Project Overview
The Woodson-Hensley Water Company (Woodson-Hensley) serves the unincorporated towns of Woodson and Hensley, Arkansas, just 20 miles north of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Woodson-Hensley serves roughly 450 residential customers and had one employee for operation and maintenance of the system. With the announcement of his retirement, the company was in need of a solution.
In 2016, Liberty approached Woodson-Hensley with respect to acquiring their water storage and distribution system. Liberty was currently serving customers in the Pine Bluff area; with local support already in place, Liberty would be able to provide the needed O&M support. The water treatment plant and much of the underground infrastructure was replaced in the 2009 - 2010 time period utilizing loans and grants from the USDA.
In May 2016 the board of directors of Woodson-Hensley passed a resolution authorizing the sale to Liberty.
Liberty was able to utilize current employees to manage the new system from Woodson-Hensley. In addition, given, that the system had been well maintained, Liberty was able to keep customer rates the same as they were under Woodson-Hensley.
