You know it’s a good day when it ends with muddy boots, aching muscles, and the satisfaction of making a customer happy. That’s exactly what our Liberty gas operations team experienced during a recent transmission line replacement project that turned out to be about more than just infrastructure.

When the easement required to complete the transmission line crossed paths with a customer’s beloved koi pond, it was a difficult conversation telling the couple that the decades-old koi pond would have to go, but together the team decided they could make it right.

Using Liberty Days, they volunteered their time and resources to build the Dooley family a brand-new koi pond, even though not one single person on the crew had ever built a koi pond before. With grit, teamwork, a little bit of research, and a whole lot of heart, these men and women turned a problem into a solution. For two days while the Dooley family was on vacation, the design, digging, and creation all took shape, and when the Dooleys returned from their trip, the new koi pond won them over.

"The first thing I did was run to see the pond and I couldn’t believe my eyes," Mrs. Dooley said. "I bragged about Liberty to family from other states!"

Mr. Dooley echoed his wife’s enthusiasm saying, "I don’t have words. It looks professionally done, like it was built by people who’ve been doing this all their lives."

This project wasn’t just about a pond, but rather about changing minds, earning trust, and showing a customer that at Liberty, we do what’s right. It also served as a wonderful reminder that there is always a solution when we are willing to find one.

Big shout out to the entire Georgia team. The koi may swim in circles, but the intentional focus to go above and beyond, creates long lasting value for our customers.
