Let’s get smart about irrigation during Smart Irrigation Month this July. It’s a great opportunity to focus on the social, economic, and environmental benefits of water-efficient irrigation technologies, products, and techniques.
Water is a precious natural resource that is essential to life, so it’s important to take action and conserve. Outdoor water use, including irrigation, accounts for 30 – 60% of water use. Of that, as much as 60% can be lost due to evaporation and run-off. But we can reduce that water waste if we water wisely!
Smart irrigation is one way to conserve water without major lifestyle changes. You can save water while maintaining a beautiful landscape at your home or business. Remember, only one inch of water per week is needed to keep your lawn healthy and lush.
Liberty offers helpful resources and programs to assist you in lowering your water usage. For Smart Irrigation Month, you may be interested in learning how to install drip irrigation or how to replace your conventional irrigation controller with a weather-based irrigation controller (WBIC). You can also apply for a free Drip Irrigation Kit through our no-cost conservation device program, or access helpful tips and information about when to water your plants, how to maintain a water-efficient or pollinator garden, and the benefits of native plants on the Liberty website.
“Conservation is our way of life and being efficient with water helps with long-term water management, especially in times of drought. Liberty is here to help you on your water efficiency journey,” said Sara Alloway, Water Efficiency Manager at Liberty.
