Utility services like water, wastewater, electricity, and natural gas form the backbone of thriving communities, and for the past 10 years, Liberty has been steadily enhancing our system to make sure your home stays warm on those bitterly cold New England winter days. At the same time, this work has allowed us to replace more than 132 miles of leak-prone pipe, and also contributed to the reduction of methane emissions in the Commonwealth.

This work has not only improved system reliability and safety, but it’s also breathed new life into parts of our community through modernization and development. Some of the larger projects include:

  • Enhancing the downtown area with improvements to Columbia Street;
  • Providing enhanced service to the Southcoast Marketplace, which brought natural gas service to restaurants, grocery stores, and other vital businesses; and
  • Completing the Davol Street project and bringing natural gas service to Fall River’s growing waterfront.

Each of these projects includes replacing leak-prone gas mains with more durable materials. This means fewer leaks, reduced carbon emissions, and an enhanced gas system. It also reduces the future need for repairs and extends the time until the mains need to be replaced, a win for everyone.
