Three high school students understood the assignment when tasked with creating a 60-second video on the merits of water conservation. The young videographers were contestants in Liberty’s High School Media Contest and after being chosen as finalists by a panel of Liberty judges, the videos were posted on Facebook for the public to decide who would take first, second, and third place.
Having received the most likes and shares, first place was awarded to Chaylyn Mae Harrington from Cambridge Central High School in Cambridge. Earning second place was Jocelyn Nashtatik from John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, and third place went to Olivia McCarthy from North Shore High School in Glen Head.
Each video depicted the importance of water conservation, especially during the summer months when irrigation practices tend to use more water than necessary. In addition to facts and examples, the winners were creative, making their videos fun to watch.
Congratulations to Chaylyn, Jocelyn, and Olivia for submitting creative, informative pieces and placing in the top three of the contest!
