Just in time for the cooler months, Liberty is making sure families in Midland and Columbus, Georgia can count on their natural gas service, even when the temperatures get lower than we’d like. "We are proud to provide consistent gas service to the communities we serve,” said Carolyn Bermudez, President Georgia for Liberty. “For those winters that take us by surprise, we feel good knowing our customers will be warm and comfortable and that they will have reliable gas service for cooking and heating all year long."

In Midland, our crews replaced approximately one mile of aging two-inch gas line with a bigger, stronger four-inch pipe that serves nearly 200 homes, including those at the very edge of our service area. This means consistent pressure and more reliable heat and hot water for everyone, even during a once-in-30-years winter storm, like we experienced last winter. And because safety is our top priority, our team will visit each home to relight gas appliances and double-check that everything is working correctly.
In Columbus, an additional 200 homes are also getting a boost. Instead of swapping out old pipes, in this case we connected two separate systems to a secondary source, so that there’s always enough pressure to keep your home warm, even when demand spikes. Our new pipes run along Veterans Parkway and Hancock Road, quietly working below the scenes to keep your service steady.
These upgrades will be completed by or before the beginning of 2026, and are all about giving you peace of mind. No matter how much demand there is, or how far you live from the center of town, Liberty is investing in your comfort and safety. We’re proud to build the kind of infrastructure that keeps your family cozy today, and for many winters to come.
